Multiple Style Shifts

A wonderful post from the other day got me to do some thinking.

The title was Style Goals revisited.

The Question I posed to myself was:

Do I have style goals?

What are they?

How do I define them?

I had a necessary style shift because of my pregnancy. I'm currently 18 weeks and 5 days. I went into this with the thought that most of my clothing is loose and has flow. I thought I would be alright.

I found myself eventually saying a tearfull goodbye as I packed away most of my wadrobe.

This was my first shift. Being a plus size American 18 at 5'2 is already challenging now add on to that being pregnant and growing. But this was a 9 month temporary situation so I did not want to invest to heavily.

I purchased

2 plaid shirt dresses
2 sweater dresses
Leggings
Orthopedic shoes good support for walking.
A few head wraps.

I've been wearing the same thing to work and church for the past 4 months. As I did I went through major changes in work location, mindset, personal life challenges. I stopped posting and stopped enjoying my wardrobe. Which led me to another style shift.

Recently I decided to get back to what made me happy inside and out and that is my flamboyant and maximum style.

I've learned that I need to be flexible on this style Evolution.

I've learned that I need to wear things that make me feel like me happy.

I'm learning to have patience and to be kind to myself and my growing nugget.

I've learned or am learning that what I wear is a direct reflection oh how I feel.

I also learned that I love color as much as I love earth tones. With that being said.

I purchased and have had some things made for me. By my significant other and a good friend. Now I feel as right as rain.

I have a few dresses a few new hats and overalls and jumpsuit made for me. I even have some new thrifted pieces. .I cannot wait to wear them and show them to you.

Thank you once again for reading.

Good to have you back here! It's been a long time since I was pregnant (my youngest is 20) but I remember how hard it is to dress during pregnancy. You still want to look good and feel good but hate to spend much since it is temporary. It sounds like you're figuring out how to do it in a way that will keep you feeling great. And it sounds like you are using this opportunity to figure out some things about your style. It's all good!

Please wear and show your new pieces! I find your style so creative and interesting. This   ... dress? is a piece of art.

Ledonna, it's wonderful that you are feeling like your joyful self again. I remember being so sick of those maternity clothes and having to buy a few more to fit my giant baby bump in the 9th month. I think it was Forum member Bella who did some great posts on maternity wear in the past. Many will benefit by your pregnancy posts.

Keep up that attitude, because your style shift will not just last your pregnancy. There will be the post-pregnancy body shifts (maybe nursing access), and then the challenges of dealing with the baby as it grows....
But we are all on this constant journey, even without physical changes.

YES !  Sometimes it takes looking around and experimenting to come back and realize you were happy all along !

RobinF thank you the learning curve has been tricky but I'm figuring it out.

Sisi Yep, it is a dress with a shrug.  I wish I was as creative to make something like this.  My good friend upcycles clothing and this is her new line.

Thank you Joy I'm going to look for the post from Bella.

Chewyspaghetti  I am seeing now the constant evolution.  I think for me it had to be a mind shift of acceptance, flexibility and patience.

Isabel right specifically if you get knocked off of your center.  I'm finding my way again.

Good questions and good answers. And yeah, I agree: your exuberance is one of your defining and best qualities...and it's a little weird to see you in subdued outfits, lol. It *was* making me feel like you'd given something up...

    Great attitude.

I found fun jewelry and hats my best pregnancy accessories.  I was heavily pregnant in summer.

Feeling happy is the main thing!!

I love your fantastic positive attitude, and you rock that outfit!

Thank you all.  I just want to remind all you fabers that I'm just regular person who gets upset also but I choose to find the joy in all things.

Kiwigal/SallyI will be pregnant up until the end of April or around spring.  I find that hats and scarfs are helpful also.  I'm limiting my jewelry.  But I do love a great hat and have been wearing them constantly.

Great to see you are discovering your style again.  Dressing while pregnant can be difficult.  I wore a lot of the same outfits (normally I try to mix up my outfits and not repeat too often) but tried to change them up with different shoes, jewelry, and scarfs.

You look beyond gorgeous in this outfit - a nugget is absolutely the best accessory and maximal fun suits you perfectly.
