The Peplum...

Greetings Family,

So I talked about my obsession with the peplum look. Just a bit of a recap I have about 14 in my wardrobe most of them are mesh and zip up the front. On a recent trip I found two beautiful ones an maroon and a forest green one. I could imagine the possibilities as I said out loud to myself I hope they have them in multiple colors when I spotted the first. I went straight for them. I saw 3 maroon green and a leopard print my heart started to pound I got all giddy and excited because there were only a few of the mesh left. I asked the sales associate to please take it off the mannequins. Have you ever done that undressed the mannequin? I’ve done it on several occasions.

I knew that when I bought these they would not only carry me through the next 8 months but beyond in the next coming years. I am a buy now wear now type of person. I have a few select pieces that are occasion only but I wear clothing as soon as possible. I wanted to wear this to church and beyond. I had a full Sunday. My uncle was retiring from his mega church and we had a full on gospel musical celebration. Over 15 church choirs were scheduled to sing. Almost 4 hours of music and praising. Let me tell you about the black church. We show up and show out. I had so much fun with my family and celebrating my great uncle on his retirement. He has been serving his church for over 50 years. So my church service was at 7:30 a.m. and the Gospel service was at 4:00p.m. You better believe that I took a long nap lol. Naps are so so so good. I remember when I was younger in the service I would take 45minute naps. They were the best for the rest of the day.

So on this day I decided to wear the maroon mesh peplum with this cobalt blue button down and Jersy knit pin striped pants. These pants are the most comfortable that I own. I have had them for years thrifted years ago the waist is this stretch elastic that is so comfortable. My shoes are these fab patent faux leather I bought from payless long long ago they were so comfortable I bought a second pair. I wish I had bought a third pair. My earrings were a simple drop grey pair that were light weight. My sister was kind enough to take these photos for me. I am so glad she supports what I do. Sometimes it is a family affair doing the picture taking process.

Mesh Peplum top (Rainbow) $14.99
Blue Button down (Thrifted) $3.99
Jersy knit pants very old (Thrifted)
Shoes Payless (Years Ago)
Earings Beauty Supply Store $1.00

As always all are welcome comments, lurkers or combination of both.

Glad you didn't wear it to church the way the model in the finds did. :)
You look great as literally always-I always enjoy seeing what you wear.
I remember being shocked recently to find out your height-I'd always imagined you were at least 5'9".
The church celebration sounds amazing. The music must have been incredible. Sounds like your uncle really knows how to serve.

First, let me say right off that I love this outfit on you. I think you've done amazing things with this mesh peplum top. It's so flattering on your curves and it works with the bold cobalt underneath. You have an artist's eye and sense of energy. And the flare leg of the pant is fantastic with the peplum flare. Just so great.

Thank you for describing your church life, too. I cannot imagine the beauty and the sound of 15 choirs .... I have been thinking a lot lately about going back to a church here that I feel a connection to and I just have to prioritize it and get myself to "show up and show out."

I really love your posts, Ledonna.

I hereby crown you Queen Peplum. Love this on you Ledonna, and bless those pant lengths.

Barbara Diane I've worn some wacky stuff to church tho. Lol Thank you. Our grandfather and all of his 9 brothers were or are currently pastors. We certainly come from a long line. That's probably why I write and talk so much lol. Yep 5'2 is all of me my oldest neice is 6'1 and my youngest neice is 5'6. Our baby will probably be born taller than me Tem is 6'2. Oh boy. Lol

Viva thank you. I had to find the right church service for me. We grew up Baptist catholic pentacost it was an interesting mix. Lol my 7:30 am service is great for me. Sundays are truly the only day I have to rest and I feel like the creator did not want us to spend all day in church. Lol

Here is a link to a short video I recorded if you like.

Great look. The bright colors look great on you. I have never worn a peplum top or thought to but they look great on you!

You are definitely the peplum queen, as Angie said :-) I'm just an inch shorter than you and would never think of wearing an outfit like this...maybe I need to expand my thinking... You look wonderful and those colors are just perfect together. Like Viva said, you have an artist's eye. A whole day of singing, praying, and celebrating your uncle's years of service sounds truly wonderful...and exhausting...totally get why you needed a nap!

I'm in love with this peplum! I want a navy one to layer up over a black turtleneck and cropped pants! Is rainbow online at all?

Fun outfit!  I like your styling of the mesh top much better than the model's pictures.  It sounds like you had a fabulous day.

  • Jane replied 1 year ago

Wow! Superb styling and it sounds like a great day! Your uncle is so loyal to his church and must understand much about families having seem different generations grow up. I love the idea of a nap in church.

  • bonnie replied 1 year ago

I love your looks! Your expression in #2 made me chuckle. I am another who had no idea you were only 5'2", that is also my height. There are quite a few of us shorties here I have noticed!

  • UmmLila replied 1 year ago

Well, I can see why you like them! Great choice. I also assumed you were a taller person.

  • Ledonna N. replied 1 year ago

Ummlila maybe I just walk tall
I used to believe Robert Downey Jr and Prince were tall also but in real life the were short.

RobinF ah thank you we should have fun in our pictures. Lol there are a few of us here.

  • Thistle replied 1 year ago
